The Countdown...

Less than a week from now and I'll officially be in my 52-in-52 challenge.  I'm equipped with an immersion blender and a yoga mat.  I'm ready.  I'm really nervous that I won't be able to complete this challenge amidst new jobs, new houses, cross-boarder travels and all the other things I can think of as excuses.  Yet, my overwhelming emotion is excitement.
As well as the 52 sauces/dips/dressings challenge, I'll also be completing 12 (monthly) 30-day fitness challenges.  Looking for a good New Year's fitness goal?  Don't think you can handle the boredom of a year long fitness regimen?  Join me for 12 different mini challenges!
For January, I'll be doing a 30-day plank challenge that I found on 30dayfitnesschallenges.com.  If you join me, let me know and we can keep each other accountable!

As for my first sauce/dip/dressing?  Well, I'll be putting up the idea on the first day of the week and documenting how it goes after I complete it.  Since I plan on completing at least one month of the Whole30 diet, I'm going to simply only use Whole30 compliant recipes and ideas.  I want to create some of my own recipes, but to start I'll be using many of the recipes found in the Whole30 Cookbook.

My husband and I each have extensive lists of goals and resolutions for 2016.  Anticipating learning new things and completing new goals is one of our favorite ways to greet the new year.  If you want to see our full lists, you can find them from our main page on bobandtrish.com, or just click here.   Happy Holidays!

Gotta Start Somewhere!

I am NOT a writer.  I am a lot of things, but a writer isn't one of them.  I really enjoy trying new things and growing as a human being, so that's why I'm here.  One of my 2016 goals and resolutions is to start a blog.  I'm not really into putting all my thoughts out into the universe, although I'm grateful to the many people whose blogs and stories I enjoy reading immensely.  My blog will not be one of those, because if it starts out that way, it will be lost and forgotten by mid-February!
If you're anything like me, you get super pumped to make lists for the upcoming year, all the ways you're going to improve and change and learn and grow.  You're ambitious in your goals and for about a month into the new year, you are a rock solid new person.  And then, you aren't.  A couple months in, after several "I'll catch up tomorrow," "One miss won't kill me", and "crap, I missed it again" moments, you're back where you started, wondering why you just can't finish what you started!
For 2015, I had many goals and resolutions, most faded out before the year was half-through.  But the one that I really stuck with was journaling.  Every day.  Two pages.  Writing anything I want.  It wasn't easy.  But I finally feel mentally ready to tackle the blog goal that's been on my list for the past 5 years.
So, I'm going to kill two birds with one stone.  I love multi-tasking!  I'm going to keep a blog for an entire year and complete another challenge, which I'll use the blog to document.  I call it my "52 in 52".  52 challenges in 52 weeks.  Clever, right?  Nope.  After deciding on what I wanted my blog to be called, I googled "52 in 52 challenge" and got 694,000,000 hits.  I decided I'm okay with that.  I have no problem going with the flow if it's a good river.  This year, in an attempt to learn more about real food and healing my gut, I'm going to make 52 sugar/dairy free dressings or dips in 52 weeks to spice up ordinary salads, wraps, and fresh fruits/veggies.
I'm also going to TRY and make some additional posts besides the one a week documenting my challenge to keep updated on my other goals and resolutions.

I'd love for anyone who decides to follow me to leave me comments and suggestions for challenges, and maybe join me on this adventure!  Having accountability from friends and peers can be a huge motivator for avoiding the February Flake.

I know keeping up a blog is going to be a big challenge for me.  I'm looking forward to it.  Gotta start somewhere!
